Manage automations and scheduled posts

Find the next run, understand what happens after Chrome was closed, and pause or edit saved posting work.

Where can I see the next run?

Open Automations and expand the saved item. Next shows its next date and time, or its paused or finished state. The calendar labels the next saved occurrence Next run; later occurrences marked Estimated are forecasts.

Times use this device’s timezone. Keep the computer awake and online, with Chrome open and Facebook signed in.

What happens if Chrome was closed?

GPP cannot post while Chrome is closed. What happens when it returns depends on the saved item:

  • Recurring scheduled posts: the default is Post once when Chrome is ready. One late run can start when posting is ready, then the schedule continues at its next future time. GPP does not replay every missed day.
  • Skip and keep the next scheduled time: this option skips a recurring occurrence after its start window, which is two hours by default. A late occurrence still inside that window can run.
  • One-off scheduled posts: an occurrence beyond the start window becomes Missed. Use Reschedule to choose a new time.
  • Multi-step flows: a scheduled trigger beyond the start window skips to a later recurrence. A one-time trigger pauses; review it, then resume to run it or edit its start time.

For recurring scheduled posts, open Edit and the timing settings, then expand If a recurring run is late to choose the policy. Existing posting or account pauses can still prevent a start.

How do I pause or edit an item?

  1. Open Automations and expand the item.
  2. Choose Pause to stop it, or Edit to change its saved content, groups or timing.
  3. For a scheduled post, finish with Save changes. Check its next time and status afterward. Use Resume when you are ready to turn a paused item back on.

Resuming a paused recurring scheduled post moves an expired time to a future occurrence. A finished or missed one-off scheduled post needs Reschedule.

Why was my background not applied?

A saved post may use a background colour Facebook no longer supports. The automation can send it as plain text instead. The result may say: Your background colour wasn't applied — Facebook posted this as plain text.

Before the next run, edit the saved post and choose another background or None. If it has already run, check the result and the Facebook post before sending again.
